Reasons for delay in interior projects are as below:
Miscommunication with Interior designer-
It happens when there is miss-communication between you and the interior designer. While deciding upon the contract, client and interior designer reach an agreement on certain things. Its very important for both the parties to understand each and every thing that has been agreed upon; especially the scope of work, inclusions and exclusions. Once the scope of work has been defined then the execution goes smoothly. Its equally important for the client couple to be on same page. If they are not then it may cause changes in designs.
Change of designs-
Our experience says that client most of the times change the agreed designs once its implemented. This usually happens if the client couple is in disagreement with each other or if they are unable to reach a decision to finalize a design.
When we say designs we mean change in Carpentry work, tiles, colors, paint etc. These changes cause delayed execution and increased overall contract amount.
Delayed payments:
Execution may get delayed due to delayed payments made to the contractor or interior designer as it needs to be paid to the vendors, material suppliers and labors.
How Can we avoid it?
Setting right expectations:
Setting right expectations with the interior designer is very important. Read the quotations properly and make sure you are aware of all the inclusions and exclusions and terms and conditions and get it clarified with the interior designer if there are no ‘hidden costs’.
In agreement with your spouse:
Make sure both of you are on same page. Don’t hurry. Sit together and discuss the design and then finalize it.
Site Visits:
Make sure you visit the site regularly. Check for the execution part yourselves and let the interior designer know if you find any discrepancy. While visiting the site make sure you get all your doubts clarified while execution is in progress.
